Under general supervision and in accordance with standardized procedures, incumbent performs physical examinations and treats common episodic and chronic health care problems in Cancer Clinics as needed, counsels patients and families, monitors patient progress, assists with medical research projects.Â The Nurse Navigator takes a leading role in activities such as managing the clinical aspects of clinic, patient rounding and care, nursing performance improvement, job performance/competency evaluations, staffing, scheduling and working with the directors, employees, and preceptors in the orientation and training of new employees.Â Executes leadership in the following areas:Â Direct/Indirect Patient Care, Support of Systems, Research, Education, Professional Leadership, Identifies opportunities for developing and fostering collegial working relationship with referring physicians and facilities, conducts PR and outreach to promote Cancer Program. Makes him/herself available to patients and physicians as a resource for both administrative and clinical aspects of the Cancer Program. Participates in speaking engagements in the community and relevant societies. Works in collaboration with other health care team members, consulting and referring as appropriate, but retains responsibility for ongoing clinical management of the patient.Â Must work with any and every physician in the Oncology Services.Â Other duties as assigned.Â
Minimum Education:â¢Bachelorâs degree. Masterâs degree preferred. Minimum Experience/Knowledge:â¢Five years clinical nursing experience.â¢Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience.Required License/Certification:â¢Valid California Registered Nursing license. . â¢BLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
