The Major Gifts Officer, University-wide reports to the Director of Development, University-wide on the team that reports to the Assistant Dean of Development, Arts and Science. The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for carrying a portfolio of prospects with the capacity to make $500K - $1M gifts+ gifts. The Major Gifts Officer will be guided by standardized team metrics for meetings, proposals and dollars raised, as appropriate for time in position, pipeline and role. The Major Gifts Officer may be assigned prospects in a particulate state, or citiesin which NYU has a cluster of University-wide highly rated prospects and the Metro NY area; some travel is required. The Major Gifts Officer will have a minimum of 5 years experience, preferably in a higher educationsetting with the ability to communicate a wide-variety of University priorities in a concise and compelling manner. The Major Gifts Officer will embrace a culture of collaboration within and across University Development and Alumni Relations.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: 5+ years Documented and progressive achievement of fundraising results in the 5-figure range or higher
Preferred Experience: Experience with fundraising in an academic and/or non-profit environment. Participation in Plus Delta desirable.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to take initiative and collaborate with others. Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite.
