The Hospital Dental Service is dedicated to the provision of care to patients with special needs and who struggle for access to dental care.
Clinical: This position will provide dental care to Hospital patients and adult and adolescent special needs patients in Hospital clinics and operating rooms. This position provides initial and follow-up continuity evaluation and management services, as well as patient and family education including anticipated treatment course, medication requirements, and subsequent treatment plans including surgical management. The position will take hospital emergency call for the Adult Hospital Dental Service. The candidate will work with the GPR residents in the OR and clinic, and will provide instruction to the residents.
Scholarly activity: The position may provide continuing education and participate in clinical research.
The duties of this position include:
Provide direct dental care to patients with medical complexities and/or special needs in a hospital setting including, diagnostic preventative and therapeutic oral health care, admitting to day surgery, work-up, management, performance and post-operative management of surgical and therapeutic procedures
Provide dental evaluation, treatment and clearance to hospital patients seeking transplant and other medical care at OHSU Hospital
Provide emergency dental evaluation and care for patients admitted through the Emergency Department or by other Hospital services
Provide instruction and leadership to residents in the GPR program
Dental degree (DDS/DMD) from a CODA accredited school
Completion of a CODA accredited GPR Program with experience in a hospital dental practice
Must be able to obtain a dental license and nitrous oxide permit in the State of Oregon
Ability to obtain hospital privileges
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
