Program Description: The Evaluation, Data Integration, and Technical Assistance Program (EDIT), housed in the Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health and Wellbeing (ISGMH), is directed by Dr. Gregory Phillips II and Dr. Lauren B. Beach (Associate Director), and attempts to foster a learning community to improve the health and wellbeing of sexual and gender minority (SGM) populations in Chicago and beyond. EDIT’s goals are to (1) be a local leader in the evaluation of interventions focused on improving the health and wellbeing of sexual and gender minority individuals; (2) help community agencies build capacity to strategically plan and implement and evaluate innovative and culturally responsive programming that serves sexual and gender minority individuals through the provision of tailored technical assistance; (3) use a wide array of data sources to enhance understanding of health disparities of sexual and gender minority individuals at a local and national level; and (4) share best practices and lessons learned from program evaluation and research studies with policymakers, funders, and service providers to improve community response to serving sexual and gender minority individuals.
Project Description: This position will be responsible for research, evaluation, and administrative support for an ongoing project within the Evaluation Center – a series of Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) funded projects housed in EDIT. The goal of this initiative is to provide evaluation and technical assistance services to multiple community agencies also funded by CDPH to plan and implement HIV prevention services. The Evaluation Center uses a systems-informed empowerment evaluation approach to help these organize collect, analyze, and use data to improve their services.
Job Activities: This job involves the support of research and evaluation efforts within the Evaluation Center. Primary activities include: interfacing with partner organization; assisting with the development and implementation of multisite evaluation efforts; tracking performance of demonstration sites; maintaining accurate, timely, and detailed records of all research and evaluation efforts; scheduling and participating in periodic calls and meetings with sites; supporting overarching data collection from agency staff (e.g., interviews, surveys); assisting with the coding and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data; assisting with the preparation of reports and dissemination products; carrying out administrative duties for the project; and other project-related responsibilities.
Participates in team and other departmental meetings to share experiences, learn about what other teams are doing and help solve problems.
Manages data receipt, tracking and follows up on assigned project(s).
Detects trends and reports on patterns of errors.
Contacts customers to obtain missing data.
Compiles and maintains codebooks, data files and memos needed for subsequent analysis of data.
Learns and complies with appropriate compliance and regulation requirements regarding protected data.
Provides administrative support to organizational area.
Edits, codes and enters data per protocol.
Runs reports and completes basic analysis.
Reviews data input for accuracy, addressing on skip patterns, coding, and other information.
Performs cleaning/formatting tasks of datasets.
Performs other duties as assigned.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
2 years' data entry or similar experience is required.
Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Outlook) and Windows Operating System.
