The Unit Secretary coordinates and supports the organized and efficient flow of surgical cases and identifies potential scheduling conflicts, either resolving them or communicating them to the Charge Nurse.Â The Unit Secretary is responsible for all clerical duties related to the administrative functions of the Perioperative Services.Â The Unit Secretary also functions in the role of Perioperative Services receptionist and acts as a liaison with other departments and physician office staff.
Minimum Education:â¢High School Diploma or GED equivalentMinimum Experience/Knowledge:â¢Two years in an OR setting as a receptionist, preferred. â¢Surgical procedure identification knowledge preferred.Required License/Certification:â¢Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
