Under direct supervision of the Assistant Director, Finance and Administration and the Grants/Financial Specialist, this position is a key participant in the administrative and budgetary post award services for numerous Research Centers under the Department of Epidemiology, including faculty, students and post-docs.Â This position also assists with financial reconciliations of account expenditures, projections, center budgets, and projects.
Major responsibilities include: Post-award Grant Monitoring and Reporting for multiple Research Centers, Sub-award monitoring/Professional Service Agreements, and Monitor Center Financials, assist with finance projects, as needed.
BA/BS degree with 1- 2 years financial background and/or budgetary experience. Strong preference for grants or project management experience, preferably in an academic or research setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong Excel and spreadsheet skills required.Â Strong database and general computing skills a must.
Good analytical skills; ability to learn new systems and appreciate how they interrelate; demonstrated ability to develop and implement new systems, policies, and procedures. Relevant experience in budget preparation, monitoring and forecasting.
Excellent project management, coordination and organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines.
Fast learner; inquisitive, enthusiastic approach to fulfilling job responsibilities.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Sound judgment for reviewing/approaching expenditures against sponsored project and appropriation accounts
Fundamental accounting skills highly desired but not required.
Excellent attention to detail required.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required.Â Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.Â Willingness to take initiative in performing tasks, multi-task, be proactive, and dependable.Â
