Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis is seeking top candidates to fill a full-time Registered Nurse for our Multispecialty Outpatient Infusion Center.� Our Multispecialty Department is one of the nation's leading academic services, committed to excellence in patient care, advancing basic science and clinical research, and training tomorrow's leaders in academic surgery.
We are seeking a Registered Nurse with exceptional IV skills who would enjoy working in a clinic setting administering atypical infusions in our Outpatient Multi-specialty Clinic.� Our specialties include but are not limited to Endocrinology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology and Bone & Mineral.� Our infusion nurses provide direct care to patients receiving infusions such as Iron, Remicade, Aranesp, Entyvio, Reclast, and perform Lipid Apheresis.� The primary responsibilities are starting line access, mixing and preparing medication and monitoring patients during their outpatient infusion.
Position provides nursing support to physicians in the Multispecialty Center.� Generally acts as a liaison between the physicians and patients helping to ensure the orderly and timely provision of excellent outpatient medical care.� Position functions within a team environment.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs and/or provides outpatient care including phlebotomy, starting, administering IV therapy and monitoring infusions, performing procedures, and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing standard practice.
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of IV drugs and supportive therapy administered to patients.
Completes necessary paperwork accurately and thoroughly.� Makes appropriate phone calls and coordinates those involved in successfully providing outpatient as well as inpatient care.
Provides accurate nursing education to patients and/or family at an appropriate level of understanding for the patient and/or family member regarding their disease, infusion therapy and symptom management.
Updates data entry in electronic medical records.
Other duties as outlined in specialty specific job responsibilities.
Normal clinical office setting with some exposure to infectious materials, toxic drugs, some moving, lifting and transferring of patients, considerable standing/walking with variable work schedule.

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Current Illinois and/or Missouri RN licensure as applicable by state of work location, in accordance with Compact Act; Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).
The outpatient clinic is open M-F with the core hours being 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. This position is full-time – 40 hours a week.

The hiring range for this position is $23.50 - $42.25 per hour.
Bachelor's Degree Nursing. **
Working knowledge of general nursing theory and practice with ability to recognize and interpret symptoms/conditions and ability to function in new and emergent situations; general knowledge and experience in an area of specialized clinical care.
Exceptional IV skills is a plus.
** Note - The Infusion Nurse position within Multispecialty requires a BSN due to the requirements set forth to perform apheresis treatments (one of many responsibilities of this position). Possessing a BSN for an Infusion Nurse position is only required for infusion nurses in Multispecialty.
