Under the direction of the Administrative Director for Women and Infants and Medical Director of the Clinic, the OB/GYN Practice Manager is responsible for the effective management, coordination, and oversight of all outpatient clinic activities at assigned locations. UC San Diego Health's OB/GYN clinic at Convoy sees gynecology and obstetrical patients with approximately 2 clinical FTEs. The Practice Manager will manage our Convoy clinic, partner with our other clinic locations, and grow other locations as needed.
This position is a key member of the outpatient management team and manages the financial resources for clinic(s) and implements internal controls to ensure compliance with University policies and standards, external agency requirements, and State and Federal Law. Performs complex analysis of clinical financials and advises leadership regarding distribution of resources. Fiscal oversight to include revenue management of enhancement, authorization procedures, provider RVU production and session productivity to maximize efficiencies and economies of scale, and close monitoring of expenses and accounting.
Serves in conjunction with site medical directors, coordinating agenda and outcomes. Analyzes all areas of clinic operations on a day to day basis, conducts all aspects of personnel management to include recruitment, performance management, training, compensation oversight, and labor relations issues. Oversees all TJC requirements and CQI projects throughout the department. Assures accurate timekeeping and payroll for all departmental employees. Will work with independence in applying clinical and business judgment, management concepts and provide counseling to all site clinic faculty and staff on daily operational issues.
The incumbent works in close collaboration with UCSD Ambulatory Services and Patient Experience offices, the position is responsible for creating and maintaining a patient focused environment. The manager will be an active participant in all women's health activities including occasional marketing activities for the clinic and service line. Some evenings and weekends required.
A Bachelor's Degree in related area; and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
Five (5+) or more years of relevant healthcare experience, including two (2) years of clinical management experience in ambulatory care.
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be able to work within a team environment.
A Master's Degree.
Experience in women's health, specifically obstetrics.
Academic Medical Center experience.
Magnet hospital experience.
Six sigma/quality improvement experience.
Prior financial experience including budgeting and reporting.
Must be able to work various hours, days, shift, on-call and various locations as needed.
