The Department of Pediatrics at Alpert Medical School of Brown University, in affiliation with Rhode Island Hospital/Hasbro Children's Hospital, seeks an accomplished Pediatric Infectious Diseases physician at the Associate Professor or Professor level to serve as Director of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases.
The Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases includes 3 full time faculty and 2 part time faculty, as well as up to 3 fellows (one per year). The Director will provide leadership and oversight for the faculty and fellows in all mission areas. These areas include outpatient and in-patient clinical practice, a fellowship program, trainee educational programs and professional scholarship, research, and service. The Director will likewise provide effective mentorship to enable faculty and fellows to become successful educators, investigators and clinicians. It is expected that approximately 20% of the Division Director's time will be devoted to scholarly and/or research activities with the potential for additional research time based on funding. The Division Director reports directly to the Chair of Pediatrics.
Clinical activities take place at the 87 bed Hasbro Children's Hospital and at the 80 bed NICU within the adjacent Women's and Infants' Hospital; both are primary pediatric teaching facilities for The Alpert Medical School of Brown University. The pediatric clinical programs range from common pediatric care to tertiary/quaternary care, and include a large refugee clinic, a global health program and partnership with the RI Department of Health's Public Health Innovation Center.
The successful physician leadership candidate has a national reputation and demonstrated scholarly achievements, including academic accomplishments in clinical care, education and research. The candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to provide executive leadership to implement high-quality clinical care, pediatric infectious diseases training and scholarship. Candidates must be eligible to obtain a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Rhode Island, be board certified in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases, and qualify for a full time academic appointment at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
