The Department of Pathology at Rhode Island Hospital, Newport Hospital and The Miriam Hospital is seeking a pathologist to join the Lifespan Academic Medical Center with clinical duties in both anatomic and clinical pathology (AP/CP). Minimum requirements include: board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology (or Canadian equivalent). Training in adult surgical pathology with subspecialty expertise is highly desirable. Clinical pathology consultative skills, particularly in laboratory hematology and transfusion medicine, are also required.
While performing duties at Rhode Island and The Miriam Hospital, the incumbent will also be expected to participate in the teaching of residents and fellows in graduate medical education training programs, teaching of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine courses, supervising clerkships for medical students at Brown University, and/or providing instructional support to the medical technologist training program in the Department of Pathology.
As a surgical and clinical pathologist at Newport Hospital, the candidate will have surgical pathology responsibilities as delineated above, as well as significant involvement in clinical laboratory consultation particularly in the areas of hematology and transfusion medicine.
The successful candidate must qualify for a full-time medical faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Those candidates applying at the rank of Associate Professor must have a national reputation and scholarly achievements appropriate to this level.
