The Department of Instruction & Leadership in Education at Duquesne University’s School of Education has a new opportunity to fill a Visiting Professor in English As A Second Language at the Assistant Professor level. This appointment will run from January 2021 through June of 2021 with the possibility of renewal. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and will include a 6-month salary, vacation, and benefits package. The Department of Instruction and Leadership in Education offers the Ed.D., M.S., and B.S. degrees and a variety of teaching certifications. Our collegial and dynamic department currently has 16 research-active faculty, who contribute actively to the School of Education’s Leading Teacher Program at the Undergraduate and Graduate levels. Faculty research interests cover the breadth of the educational field focusing on curriculum, instruction, technology, and leadership in teaching and teacher education. Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the ESL program, advising and supervising graduate students in the ESL program.
Participating in the doctoral program in Instructional Technology.
Demonstrating professional involvement in the ESL/TESOL/multilingual education and/or other related field.
Required qualifications for this position include an earned doctorate in Foreign/Second Language Education, Applied Linguistics, Educational Linguistics, or a closely related field. ABD considered.
Three years of experience of demonstrated teaching experience with English language learners in the U.S., the U.S. territories, and/or other countries.
ESL specialist certificate (or equivalent) and teaching experience in K-12 schools.
University-level teaching experience in related courses in ESOL/TESOL/Bilingual, English learners’ education.
Demonstrated experience with online instruction.
A commitment to community-engaged teaching and research, and collaboration with local schools and immigrant-/refugee-background communities.
