USC Online is seeking a Director of Multimedia to oversee in-house development of multimedia content for online programs that align with the strategic goals of the University. The Director of Multimedia will have direct responsibility for media development and project management, overseeing media development from inception through production to final postproduction and final delivery of media assets. This role oversees a media design and production team, coordinating resources to ensure needs are met for assigned projects. Working closely with subject matter experts, faculty and staff, this role leads efforts to create engaging multimedia content that motivates and inspires learners to have the confidence to achieve their educational goals. This role requires excellent communication skills, demonstrated instructional design skills, and knowledge and passion for creating multimedia content for online learning. Additionally, the successful candidate will also demonstrate the ability to problem solve and think critically, and be able to adjust to a rapidly changing environment.

Manages media production that support the learning outcomes for online courses. This includes oversight of concept ideation, preproduction (scripting), filming, and postproduction of all original media; coordinating live action film shoots (including location, equipment, and talent); and final delivery of multimedia assets for inclusion in online courses.
Fosters a team approach, collaborates with instructional designer(s) and faculty to ensure learning objectives are met.
Oversees the collection of all course multimedia elements, content, and assets; including copyrights and streaming.
Develops detailed project plans and manages media projects for online courses, leads project meetings and communicates progress to the project sponsor and stakeholders. Conducts risk assessment and mitigation; executes work-arounds as needed to deliver projects on-time and on-budget.
Ensures proper access and accessibility to media content to people with disabilities.
Maintains currency with industry standards, best practices and emerging technology. Follows evidence-based best practices in multimedia design.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Masterâs degree in cinematic arts or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
7 - 10 years of experience in multimedia production and project management.
Excellent analytical, written and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate well with faculty, students, and staff.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while balancing and prioritizing multiple projects.
Ability to learn and adapt quickly.
Ability to manage multiple projects, adjust to changing priorities and perform well under pressure.
Minimum Education: Master's degree. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 7 years. Proven experience in management/leadership roles, overseeing staff and building and maintaining relationships with domestic and international stakeholders. Experience resolving inquiries and complaints, and presenting information to varied audiences and maintain confidentiality. Proven analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in specialized areas. Outstanding interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with exemplary attention to detail. Experience in higher education and/or customer service. Proven ability to plan, implement, coordinate and organize program logistics. Demonstrated database/data entry experience. Proven project management and problem solving skills, able to handle multiple timelines, changing priorities, and fluctuating workloads.
