Postdoctoral Fellowship: Fire in the American West
The Huntington-USC Institute on California and the West seeks applications from recent PhDs whose scholarly research explores any aspect of fire in the American West.Â The successful candidate will become part of a multi-disciplinary team investigating western fire from multiple disciplinary points of access including, but not limited to, history, public policy, indigenous fire practice, economics, earth science, literature, technology, risk management, forestry, and natural history.Â
The appointment is a one-year research fellowship (2021-2022) attached to the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences and the Institute on California and the West (ICW).Â ICW is a collaborative research and teaching initiative established between the Huntington Library and the University of Southern California (www.usc.edu/icw).Â Candidates must have a completed Ph.D. in hand by July of 2021.Â
