A postdoctoral position is available with Assistant Professor Dan Fu in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Washington. The Fu lab specializes in optical imaging of living biological systems using two-photon absorption, two-photon fluorescence, and stimulated Raman scattering microscopy. We seek a highly motivated scientist interested in developing novel single cell measurement techniques to study intratumor heterogeneity and drug response of single cells using 3D tumor spheroids and animal models. The successful candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative, and supportive research environment to apply innovative precision chemical imaging tools to a wide range of biological/biomedical problems in cancer research and in neuroscience.
This full-time, 12-month position has immediate availability for an initial one-year appointment. The position will be renewable annually contingent on performance and available funding. Salary will be commensurate with experience, based on the NIH guidelines for postdoctoral trainees.
A PhD is required, ideally in physics, chemistry, bioengineering or a related field. The candidate should also have relevant experience in the following areas:
- Optical microscopy, particularly confocal or two-photon microscopy;
- Optical instrumentation;
- 2D and 3D cell culture;
- Mouse models;
- Image processing.
The successful candidate must be highly motivated with a record of productive research, and eager to work in a collaborative research environment. The individual is expected to design and run experiments, troubleshoot new protocols and imaging methods, mentor graduate students and manage research projects. The individual will be encouraged to participate in department seminars, journal clubs, conferences, and trainings to further develop their career.
