Pediatric Perfusionist performs clinical perfusion for Doernbecher Childrens Hospital (DCH) to include those functions necessary for the support, treatment, measurement, or supplementation of the cardiopulmonary and circulatory system of the patient. This includes but is not limited to coverage for standby procedures in the cardiac cath lab, and active involvement in a pediatric managed ECMO program. This includes ECMO initiation, resource for patient management, all aspects of simulation and training of ECMO specialists, intensivist fellows, and residents, and assists in program management. Perfusion alsoserves as a clinical educator for perfusion students. Perfusion participates and collaborates in research activities and publish in peer reviewed journals. Other duties may be assigned. Call coverage is required.
Provide perfusion coverage for all pediatric open heart procedures, standby on all closed heart procedures, standby for cardiac cath lab, ECMO initiation and assists in ECMO program training and management
Autologous blood recovery/blood conservation for open heart procedures
Participate in collaborative research opportunities
Perform Perfusion laboratory services and analysis
Education of house officers, nurses, residents, perfusion students
BS/BA Degree or BS equivalent of an accredited school of Perfusion
Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP)
3-5 years experience in perfusion preferred but not required
Pediatric and ECMO experience preferred, but not required
FPP (Fellow in Pediatric Perfusion) preferred but not required)
