Health Services Research and Administration (HSRA) is an academic unit within the CEPH accredited College of Public Health (COPH)at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) and is seeking candidates for the position of Chair of the department. The HSRA has undergone tremendous growth since the College of Public Health was formed in 2007. The faculty has devoted significant time to curriculum and program development, while initiating research and involvement with Nebraska Medicine, the Nebraska Department of Health, and other regional and national healthcare providers. They are poised to enter a new phase of growth and are looking for a new Chair to lead the Department with a vision and strategy towards greater success and growth. RESPONSIBILITIES The Chair is responsible for leading the department including developing new programs, strengthening existing programs, expanding the health services research and methodology profile of the department, and growing collaborative relationships. The chair also oversees the department budget, coordinates teaching assignments, and evaluates, and provides mentoring for, department faculty and staff. This position is a 12-month appointment with administrative, teaching, research, and service responsibilities.

A Ph.D. degree in health services research or related field is required. The candidate should also have a record of accomplishment of collaborative research and peer-reviewed publications, demonstrated ability to obtain extramural funding for research, and track record of effective teaching and student mentoring as would be expected for the rank of full professor. The chair is expected to have effective interpersonal and communication skills, leadership and management experience, faculty mentorship experience, and a strong track record of collaborative and/or statistical methodology work. Experience engaging with health systems to complete rigorous quality improvement and health services research, developing and implementing related academic programs, and leading a federally-funded program of research will be considered positively.
