The Deputy Athletics Director/COO will serve as the second in command for Catamount Athletics and provide strategic direction for the department while assisting the Director of Athletics with day-to-day operations. This position will have a specific emphasis on internal operations, including:
Direct oversight over internal units including business operations, sports administration, human resources, equipment, and facility operations & events. oIn collaboration with the sports administration team, develop and implement policies and procedures related to the operation of the sports programs. Assess and evaluate operations and personnel performance in the sports programs. Orient new coaches to department policy and procedures while overseeing all sports administration activities. Direct oversight of assigned sports. oAlong with the Director of Athletics, accountable for the oversight of financial and budgetary activities for the department with support from the business office staff. oResponsible for recruiting and hiring, staff evaluations, salary recommendations, and dismissal of personnel and disciplinary action if necessary. oOversight over apparel and equipment including the corporate relationship with Adidas, contract obligations, and team allotments. oProvide leadership for the planning and supervision of capital projects, facility operations, and event management.
Work on department-wide initiatives as assigned by the Director of Athletics, while providing direction that will deliver and drive results that meet the department’s goals and objectives.
Work with other senior administrators to advise, develop and implement departmental policies, including yearly and long-term strategic plans.
Provide staff development; coordinate department/head coaches' meetings with the support of administrative staff.
Attend home and away sporting events and department functions.
Interact with supporters and donors. Speak to community groups regarding the athletic program. Serve on department committees.
Serves as a liaison to various campus groups, the Southern Conference and the NCAA.
Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Master’s Degree preferred, Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of 2 years collegiate athletics administration experience required.
Experience in supervision of personnel; knowledge of university functions; background in NCAA compliance and game operations.
