The Urban Entomology lab at Department of Entomology, Rutgers University has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position. Primary responsibility is to conduct applied research in urban pest management. Current projects include house mouse and cockroach management research in apartment buildings. The secondary responsibility is to design, execute, and summarize bioassays for industry partners.
The successful candidate is expected to assist in grant preparation, supervise undergraduate and graduate students, present research findings in professional meetings, and publish results in peer-reviewed journals. Continuous employment will depend on funding and performance.
The successful candidate must have strong publication records, experimental design and statistical analysis skills, proficiency in SAS or SPSS programming, and dedication in urban pest management research. There will be frequent in-state travel to apartment buildings. The candidate needs to be able to communicate with residents and building staff effectively and work for long hours when needed in apartment buildings.
This is a grant-funded position.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a PhD in area of Entomology or closely related field. Experience in pest management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires a strong background and knowledge of insect behavior, pest management, insecticide toxicology, statistical analysis, SAS or SPSS software. Excellent organizational, interpersonal skills, and computer literacy, including proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point is required.
All of the typical laboratory equipment. Also, will use Microsoft Excel and Word and graphing and statistical analysis software
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to lift 20 pounds and have direct contact with laboratory rodents/animals.
