Cued Language Transliterator National Certification (CLTNCE)., Licensed by the Iowa Department of Public Health as a Sign Language Interpreter/Transliterator.
Professional experience as a certified Cued Language Transliterator. Experience in a High School or Post-secondary educational environment as a Cued Language Transliterator. Experience working with issues related to the provision of reasonable accommodations in the post-secondary environment.
The Office of Student Accessibility Services seeks qualified applicants for a Cued Language Transliterator (CLT) to provide services to deaf and/or hard of hearingÂ ISUÂ students and visitors requiring this accommodation. This position will provide transliteration in a variety of settings including class lectures, discussion groups and labs, as well as services outside of the classroom such as student appointments, tutoring,Â ISUÂ campus visits,Â ISU orientation, graduation events, student organization meetings, public lectures, etc. This is a renewable 10 month term position contingent upon the continued registration of students utilizing Transliteration services as an accommodation.
Additional responsibilities include meeting with students to review communication needs, proctoring accommodated exams, assisting with text conversion processes, and performing other duties as needed in the Student Accessibility Services office. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficient cued transliteration skills with the ability to meet the material comprehension needs of deaf/hard of hearing clients in a collegiate setting. The successful candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive client relationships and will adhere to the professional standards and ethics of the National Certifying Body for Cued Language Transliterators (TECÂ Unit).
This is a renewable 10 month term position contingent upon the registration of students utilizing Transliteration services as an accommodation. The term of employment is August 15 â June 15. Typical hours are Monday â Friday; 8 am â 5 pm. with the exception of school breaks (i.e. spring break, winter break etc).Â However, there is some flexibility in hours as this position will be required to work a variety of hours including some weekends based on needs for student accommodations (i.e. scheduled courses, activities, meetings, campus events, etc.). We are looking for a candidate to start in December before spring semester starts.
