The Department of Chemical Engineering in the Swenson College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota, Duluth (UMD) seeks applications for a postdoctoral associate to work on ongoing research projects in the area of greenhouse gas capture and conversion with focus on materials and energy conversion system. Duties and Responsibilities: Participation in the execution and management of the ongoing research project works; participation in field, laboratory and analytical works for the ongoing research projects; participation in writing of research reports, articles for publications and research proposals, and participation in preparation of research related presentations and attending research meetings. The selected applicant will work at UMD and be mentored by Dr. Sam Toan, Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering. The initial appointment will be for one year with further appointments contingent upon performance and funding. Individuals with research accomplishments in catalysis chemistry, inorganic materials, and electrochemistry, and practical experience with the development of synthesis of catalysts and nano Organic-inorganic hybrid materials would be particularly qualified for this position. • Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering, chemistry or related discipline;
• Excellent laboratory and analytical skills;

Research experience in the area of nanomaterials (especially Organic-inorganic hybrid materials) / catalyst / material synthesis / device fabrication / material characterization, chemical looping;
• Excellent laboratory and quantitative skills;
• Experience in finite element analysis;
• Potential for developing proposals for new research projects and bringing in new research ideas;
• A record of publications in peer reviewed conferences and journals.
