University Support Services LLC (USS) is the North American correspondent for St. George's University (SGU), a leading center of international medical education, drawing students and faculty from 140 countries to the island of Grenada, in the West Indies. SGU has helped change lives through its more than 20,000 alumni, which include physicians, veterinarians, scientists, and public health and business professionals across the world. The Clinical Placement Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of placing students in appropriate hospitals for clinical core and elective rotation training. The coordinator arranges third year scheduling so that students can complete third year requirements within their first clinical year. The coordinator maintains the integrity of the clinical student data as entered into the company’s current computer system(s) of record. This position maintains open and friendly communication with affiliated hospital representatives to obtain third year clerkship availability at each site to meet the placement needs of both hospital and student.
Essential Functions • Liaison with appropriate departments to ensure students eligibility for placement. • Coordinate, with the Dean, the student schedule projections. • Coordinate with appropriate medical education personnel at affiliated hospitals the schedule for student placement. • Assign students to affiliated hospitals for third year rotations. • Assist with keeping hospitals at capacity as defined by availability. • Maintain student third year schedules in system(s) of record. • Initiate appropriate documentation for clinical placement. • Keep accurate written records of student interactions. • Counsel and assist students with their clinical placement. • Gain knowledge of the necessary actions and required functions of the Clinical Department in order to accurately maintain data standards as they apply to the other departments and the University. • User Acceptance Testing (UAT) tester for the Clinical Department. • Access clinical data and provide reports with approval and permission from the Office of the Dean, School of Medicine. • Reply to email, telephone or face to face inquiries quickly.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Strong organizational skills with excellent time management skills. • Strong interpersonal skills. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Must be able to work as a member of a collaborative team. • Must possess ability to work in a high volume environment with competing demands. • Strong knowledge of database management and Microsoft Word. • Banner experience preferred. • Ability to multi-task and manage various projects under tight deadlines. • Analyze information and make sound business decisions.
Qualifications • Experience in a University placement office preferred. • Bachelor’s Degree required. • Registrar background helpful. • School Counseling Certificate preferred.
Work Environment/Physical Demands This job is performed at a multi workstation cubicle in highly collaborative environment that may sometimes become quite noisy.
Hours and Travel • A typical work week is 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. • Overtime available during peak seasons.
