Partners with users to develop specifications for databases. Designs, implements, and maintains complex databases. Ensures sound database definitions, structures, performance, and documentation. Designs security and integrity controls. Maintains and monitors the database environments and database performance ensuring user business objectives are attained.
The mission of CBITs is to design, evaluate, and sustainably implement digital mental health solutions. The overarching theme of CBITs’ research is focused on the design, evaluation, and implementation of technology-enabled interventions for common mental health problems.
The Database Systems Engineer Senior will support research projects focused on designing, implementing, and evaluating technology-enabled services to address common mental health problems.
Assists users with annual planning and ensures that database administrator activities are aligned with and enable those plans.
Analyzes and designs policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management.
Ensures data backup and recovery processes.
Ensures compliance with security policies.
Documents and maintains system standards
Researches and recommends innovative approaches for database administration tasks.
Provides data and metrics to support performance tuning decisions.
Prepares databases for new releases of application software.
Designs, configures, and implements complex databases.
Creates database objects.
Creates and rebuilds indices
Gathers statistics and tunes databases
Reorganizes tables and tablespaces
In collaboration with development project teams, builds, rebuilds, and/or updates databases.
Maintains complex databases.
Manages system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system.
Monitors and tunes system to achieve optimum performance levels.
Analyzes and evaluates incident reports and recommends database changes to ensure user satisfaction.
Ensures that appropriate patches are applied in a timely fashion.
Manages database memory requirements.
Tunes vendor upgrade scripts to minimize system downtime.
Schedules database installations and upgrades.
Partners with the System Administrators to tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
Analyzes and evaluates incident reports and recommends database infrastructure changes to ensure user satisfaction.
Assist users with database procedures, operation, trobleshooting in a consulting role.
Provides work direction and/or supervises staff such as team members, subordinates, contractors, vendors, students, etc.
Coaches and mentors staff.
Manages projects ensuring timelines and deliverables are met and meet expectations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as computer science, information technology, or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
4 years database administration or equivalent experience required.
Experience in REDCap and Python.

Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
Experience designing complex database solutions for clinical research.
