High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. Experience in a related field preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Under the supervision of a Contact Tracing Supervisor, the Contact Tracer will use the Texas Health Trace web-based data management platform to call all contacts of anyone diagnosed with COVID-19, to document a symptom check, refer them for testing according to established protocols, and provide them with instructions for quarantine or isolation, if appropriate. The Contact Tracer will be part of a team of managers, epidemiology leads, case investigators, community resource coordinators, and other contact tracers.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
The Contact Tracer will call contacts of newly diagnosed patients. Communicates with contacts in a professional and empathetic manner. Collects and records information on symptoms into Texas Health Trace. Provides contacts with approved information about Texas' quarantine/isolation procedures, and if appropriate, refer them to testing according to protocol and/or to a COVID-19 social resources. Follows a script to inform contacts about the importance of quarantine/isolation and what to do if symptoms develop. Escalates issues to epidemiology lead. Maintains daily contact with supervisor. Follows all scripts, policies and procedures provided by the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and comply with DSHS training regarding confidential information related to personal information.
