Student Tutors are responsible for providing academic assistance to undergraduate students in select coursework. Tutoring is not teaching, but rather supplemental learning for students needing additional assistance with course content. The student tutoring program at OHSU utilizes both group and one-on-one tutoring to assist students with course topics.
Exhibit professional behavior and adhere to confidentiality requirements
Review and abide by the Tutoring Code of Ethics
Work with students in both group and individual settings
Have availability to meet with students (hours and times may vary between terms)
Coach students on in areas assigned by faculty: which may include: clinical skills, study skills, note taking, organization, and time management
Communicate with professors regarding individual student needs and progress
Maintain records of tutoring activities including time keeping and tutoring notes
Provide additional support to organization of SCLC as assigned
Bachelor's in Nursing
Graduate student enrolled in an OHSU program at 4.5 credits or higher
General office experience
High level of organization and prioritization skills, team oriented, strong public relations and customer service skills, ability to work cooperatively with academic, unclassified management and classified personnel, strong interpersonal skills and communication skills.
Interest and experience with teaching and advising disadvantaged students.
May include travel for trainings, meetings or outreach activities.
