The COVID-19 Public Health Ambassador, under the supervision of the Office of Student Engagement (OSE), will serve as a campus resource to promote recommended health practices, ensure University protocols are being followed, and support the Universityâ™s efforts to mitigate the spread of infectious diseases. The COVID-19 Public Health Ambassadors will serve as peer educators and campus monitors to assist the campus community to create and maintain a safe learning and working environment.
Assist with monitoring campus spaces (academic buildings, outdoors, auxiliary spaces, etc.) to ensure that individuals follow recommended guidelines by encouraging face coverings, physical distancing, and abiding by room capacity limits; assist with event management to ensure that organizations and participants follow all recommended guidelines by encouraging face coverings, physical distancing, and abiding by room capacity limits; and assist with building entry/exit circulation and assist scanning everyone into the event using their PV Paw Pass
Prepare weekly reports regarding event logs, student trends, and student organization behavioral observations for review by the Office of Student Engagement; prepare weekly reports regarding incident logs and individual student behavioral observations for review by the Office of Student Conduct; distribute information to the PVAMU community regarding recommended health and safety practices, campus health resources, and University safety guidelines
Provide health trainings to registered student organizations and provide campus guests with information about hand sanitizer stations, masks, hygiene, and other methods of personal protection
Distribute COVID-19 packets that include masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer upon request; attend trainings conducted by the Office of Student Engagement and the Owens Franklin Health Center; and must be available to work evenings and weekends
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done.
Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA
No prior experience necessary
For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least six (6) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours or nine (9) graduate semester hours for the upcoming fall term.
