Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume) :
Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) by December 2020.
PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field by December 2020. Experience with training of graduate or undergraduate students in a research setting. Experience with preparing written reports and research documents. Experience with website design and maintenance and Google Forms Brief Description of Duties: The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the department of Chemistry.
The incumbent will develop training materials for various experimental techniques in support of a new graduate training program, conduct research, and ensure that all research is appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. If teaching experience is desired, the Postdoctoral Associate may contribute to teaching related to materials characterization, no more than one course a semester, and will not be the instructor on record. The successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills
Conduct research in the field of materials chemistry
Train graduate students in advanced techniques for materials characterization and safe lab practices. If teaching experience is desired, may contribute to teaching in this field, no more than one course per semester.
Collect and analyze data needed for reports to granting agencies.
Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publications in scientific journals and/or presentations and preparation of reports to granting agencies.
Attend conferences and meetings to present results from projects and post highlights from research on websites.
Other duties as assigned.
