The Blood Donor Phlebotomist functions under supervision by senior licensed technical/clinical personnel. Responsibilities include collecting whole blood from voluntary blood donors and performing blood component collection in house and on mobile blood drive sites. The Blood Donor Phlebotomist serves as a problem-solving resource. Additional duties include routine and specialized operational and support functions, such as assessment of health histories of blood and apheresis donors, stocking up supplies and assisting with setting up and breaking down of mobile blood drive sites with equipment and supplies. Performs blood component collection by apheresis for red cells, platelets and plasma. Other duties include Driving the Mobile truck and the Mobile Coach, loading and unloading the Mobile truck and the Mobile Coach. Stocks and manages the blood mobile supplies. Participates in special projects and assignments as specified. Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the developmental issues of the patient populations(s) being served. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with a diverse blood donor base. Must be able to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent customer service.
