Neurodegeneration Research laboratory in the Department of Neurology is seeking an energetic and motivated research technician for a full-time position assisting on a new NIH funded pre-clinical research study related to development of novel PET radioligands Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases with dementia. This position will entail the processing of tissue samples (both human and animal) and preparation of samples for various standard bioassays (i.e. binding assay with radio-labeled candidate ligands, ELISA, Western blot, enzyme activity assays).
This work will require preparation of buffers and standard solutions and use of a plate reader and centrifuge. Additional duties will include assisting the lab manager with maintaining the laboratory's inventories of laboratory chemicals, supplies, and tissue samples. Ideal applicants will have a background in chemistry, biology/neuroscience or related field. Applicants experienced with biochemistry techniques (binding assay, ELISA, Western blot, etc) will be given priority. An ideal applicant should be motivated, reliable and well organized, and should possess the ability to work independently and interact well with others.
Previous experience in a research lab is necessary: experience with use of pipettes, making buffer solutions is required. Previous experience working with frozen human specimens is preferred. Prefer two years of relevant experience.
