Ohio University has a vibrant residential campus that attracts top-quality students. Athens, Ohio, is a quintessential college town. We are located in picturesque Athens, OH, a family-friendly and culturally rich community located amidst scenic state and national parks just 75 minutes southeast of Columbus, Ohio. Athens provides a classic residential learning environment for the over 20,000 students from more than 100 countries who are enrolled at the main campus.
The Division of Physical Therapy is located in the College of Health Sciences and Professions which is one of the largest health colleges in the US. The program has a 35-year history of being a leader in physical therapy education in Ohio as the first program in Ohio to transition to both the master's degree and the DPT degree. We have consistently provided a strong and challenging academic and clinical preparation for the students.
The program includes 13 talented faculty, 2 administrative and budgetary support staff members, and 10 PT's and PTA's in the Ohio University Therapy Associates clinical unit. The program was recently re-accredited for 10 years. The Program Director will be responsible for strategic planning, faculty scholarship and professional development, departmental operations and budget, curricular planning/implementation, and oversight of Ohio University Therapy Associates (providing contract clinical services in Athens County). The Program Director is a dual academic leadership and tenure-track faculty role though the specific teaching and research loads are negotiable depending on interests and qualifications. The college has a flexible workload policy which allows for reduced teaching loads for research and administrative activities.
