The Department of Operations Research (OR) at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) is in an exciting period of growth and seeks applications for an open-rank tenure-track position in the area of Computation and Data Science. A successful candidate will be expected to teach in the areas of computation and data science, as well as develop a research program. We will consider candidates with any quantitative background, but will prioritize candidates who focus on computational methods, data science, and systems modeling.
The Department of Operations Research at NPS in Monterey, California is one of the oldest and largest OR departments in the world. Our students are primarily military officers from the U.S. and its allies pursuing Master’s degrees in defense-oriented OR topics. We also have a small Ph.D. program. Our students are capable, mature, and hard working. The department has over 40 faculty members, with 22 tenure-track professors, who do research in wide range of fields including data science, statistics, optimization, stochastic modeling, and simulation. Our research addresses important and challenging problems in national security and we foster close collaborations with U.S. Navy and Department of Defense sponsors, as well as other universities. · Have or expecting a Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline.
· U.S. citizen or committed to obtaining citizenship when eligible.
· Evidence of teaching aptitude with potential to advise student theses and dissertations.
· Evidence of strong potential for scholarship leading to scholarly publications.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Relocation incentives may be authorized.
