The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Research Nutritionist to join our team in a full time position within the Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Blood Marrow Transplant (BMT). Columbia University Medical Center's Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients. The Research Nutritionist will report to the Principal Investigators and serve as a liaison between the other investigators, collaborators, collaborating institutions, and other university faculty.

The Research Nutritionist will perform the following Job Responsibilities but are not limited to (Essential Functions):
Coordinate, collect and input nutrition and related study data for nutrition and integrative medicine studies in the REDCap database.
Collaborate the development of grants and research protocols pertaining to nutrition and integrative medicine.
Serve as primary point of contact for several multi-center clinical studies in nutrition.
Responsible for submission of all research studies to the institutional review board.
Assist with correspondence to federal drug administration for submission of INDs.
Maintain all clinical trials information on clinicaltrials.gov
Provide nutritional education and care as needed.
Provide translations in Spanish on patient education materials, consent forms, or other documents as needed.
Manage correspondence, generate materials, and execute administrative tasks for publications and presentations.
Employee is responsible for coordinating research studies, along with data management, subject accrual, and conduction of subject interviews.
The employee will be responsible for managing databases for all research studies and ensuring high-quality data entry.
The employee will be responsible for assisting with applications to the federal drug administration for INDs and assist the PI with all necessary documentation.
The employee will serve as the main point of contact for a national study that is investigating probiotic therapy for children with cancer, which includes coordination with individual sites on a weekly basis and monitoring of data timepoints and specimen collection.
The Research Nutritionist will devote a small portion of time to providing nutritional education and counseling to children with cancer visiting the outpatient center. As well, there will be opportunities within our international nutrition program, International Initiative for Pediatrics and Nutrition (IIPAN).
Perform other related duties as required.
Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience required plus three years of related experience
Proficient in Spanish, preferred.
Higher education in nutrition or related field is beneficial.
Working knowledge of REDCap, preferred.
Experience in counseling in diet and lifestyle changes.
Related experience with nutrition is preferred.
The research nutritionist must be flexible, highly organized, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent organization, and communication skills.
Computer proficiency with excellent data management and data analysis skills are also required as is extensive experience with SAS and Excel, and working knowledge of SPSS.
Experience with data collection and analysis.
Registered Dietician (RD) or RD eligible in the United States or abroad.
Ability to communicate, interpret, share and present information to management, clinical and research investigators and staff.
Light Level of Physical Activity Required.
