This opening is for the position of a Senior Informatics Analyst for the Program Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU) in the School of Pharmacy's Department of Pharmacy and Therapeutics. The Senior Infomatics Analyst will work as part of our productive, collaborative team at the University of Pittsburgh.
For over ten years, our team has been dedicated to conducting high-quality implementation, evaluation, and research work across Pennsylvania and the United States. The Senior Informatics Analyst will lead PERU's work in integrating data, developing web applications, and maintaining data structures in cloud environments. Proficiency and familiarity with EHR systems and clinical quality language is required, as well as experience with code systems used primarily in healthcare and relational database concepts and technologies.
This individual will lead PERU's electronic health record and health information exchange cutting-edge implementation and evaluation work that is a key part of projects in all three of our program areas (Innovative Health System Initiatives, Community Health Initiatives, and Veterans Affairs Initiatives). They will work across our exciting portfolio of projects that are active both locally and nationally. PERU has developed expertise in electronic health record data extraction and health information exchange integration through years of physical and behavioral health research and program implementation and evaluation. We are looking for an individual who enjoys problem solving and strategizing with both internal and external stakeholders to integrate data systems to provide feedback to healthcare systems so that they can provide the highest quality care for their patients. This individual will provide the data to drive systems and provider-level change to improve the health of individuals of all backgrounds and from all communities.
Plan, define, and implement data transfer protocols;
Manage the ongoing collection and transfer of data between PERU, external healthcare systems, electronic medical record vendors, and other PITT entities (e.g., honest broker);
Manage data manipulation, analysis, visualization, and report development;
Manage development of applications and web-platforms to exchange healthcare information;
Manage script development, in collaboration with PERU Research Data Analysts, to extract data from database tables for purposes of data visualization and analysis; Interface with external health record vendors and internal system quality improvement and IT teams;
Interface with internal PERU evaluation and implementation specialists to coordinate performance reporting and quality improvement work and ensure on-time completion of deliverables.
Experience interfacing with health record vendors and health system quality improvement or IT professionals;
Experience with internal facing health record reporting and analytical systems (e.g., working at a provider/system);
Experience manipulating or building health record workflows/routine care processes;
Experience working with de-identified health data (majority of data will already be de-identified once it arrives to PERU) and knowledge of best practices to de-identify protected health information;
Knowledge of healthcare/medical coding systems and Clinical Quality Language;
Project management and task delegation/coordination experience;
Experience with SQL/relational databases;
Experience with scripting languages (R, Python)
The Senior Informatics Analyst will use their knowledge of healthcare industry best practices and processes for providing clinical services in their work. Expertise in the healthcare environment and utilizing healthcare technology is highly desired. Excellent written, oral, instructional, presentation, and interpersonal skills are a must.
