Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Clinician II for the Outpatient – New Brunswick Program at Rutgers, University Behavioral Health Care.
Provides culturally competent outpatient clinical services in Spanish to meet the needs of the local Spanish speaking community. Participates in the assessment of clinical needs of children, adolescents and adults. Provides symptom reduction, focused skill acquisition and improved behavior management using evidenced based family, group, and individual therapy.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
In collaboration with the supervisor and other clinical staff, identifies appropriate resources for consumers and families' support system based on assessed needs in accordance with professionally accepted standards as measured by supervisory observation and record review.
Assists the Program Manager/Clinician Supervisor in completing monthly chart reviews of clinical documentation.
In the absence of the Program Manager/Clinician Supervisor, assigns consumers needing treatment to the appropriate clinicians.
By utilizing evidenced-based therapeutic techniques such as Motivational Interviewing, supports consumers to achieve stabilization in their respective recovery efforts.
As needed, assumes overall follow-up responsibilities for assigned consumers including coordination of treatment and liaison with community agencies as measured by supervisory observation and review.
Collaborates with consumers/families and their respective support systems in developing a discharge plan.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in a mental health discipline plus two (2) years post Master's experience in the mental health field or a Doctorate Degree in a mental health discipline.
License in a mental health discipline is required (LCSW, LPC, LMFT or psychology license).
Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
Experience with the standard diagnostic manual and appropriate diagnostic skills.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Valid driver's license.
CADC/LCADC in addition to clinical license.
Post graduate experience working with adults, in a crisis setting.
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
