The Department of Surgery is seeking a candidate for a Trauma Critical Care surgeon. This position will provide patient care and surgical services for trauma and critical care patients. Candidate must provide classroom instruction in trauma surgery for medical students, and appropriate training and supervision for house staff.

Organizational Unit Overview:
The Department of Surgery is a clinical department within the School of Medicine with the attendant responsibility for medical education and research. The Chair of the department is also the Chief of Surgical services for the hospital. The department includes 36 full-time faculty members in the sections of: transplantation surgery, plastic surgery, pediatric surgery, surgical oncology, general and bariatric surgery, and trauma and acute care surgery. It also includes clinical and basic science research labs. The 70+ employees in the department support our clinical, education and research programs. The Division of Trauma and Surgical Acute Care provides care at Vidant Medical Center's level 1 trauma center, serving eastern North Carolina, an expansive geographic region consisting of 29 counties with a population of over 1.5 million people. Vidant Medical Center, a 909 bed tertiary care teaching facility, serves as the primary teaching and clinical care venue for an integrated nine hospital hub and spoke system.
