Position Description: Oversee the efficient operation of the laboratory; perform experiments independently as well as under guidance; utilizing and maintaining a variety of laboratory equipment/devices; perform behavioral and molecular experiments; compile data and generate reports.
Perform behavioral and molecular experiments in the laboratory including but not limited to: generating animal models; behavioral testing of animals; extraction of nucleic acid and proteins from samples; tissue dissection and collection; grow and maintain cell lines; perform in vitro cell based assays; perform immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence staining and imaging of cells/tissues; breed and maintain mouse colonies.
Record, analyze and format experimental data; assist in manuscript preparation grant application, and meeting presentations.
Order and catalog animals, supplies, and reagents, maintain chemical and tissue sample inventory.
Maintain cleanliness of work area and quality and safety standards; ensure disposal of hazardous and infectious materials; adhere to infection control procedures; prepare required documents for Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee applications for various protocols.
Assist with student research projects.
REQUIRED Education: master's degree in biology related field.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Experience: Minimum of 2 years related experience. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficient in computer skills; working knowledge of laboratory procedures; an ability to use a variety of laboratory equipment; experience working with animals.
