The programmer analyst is a member of the Administrative Computing Services Programming Team; and works closely with faculty and staff members to provide data to support academic and administrative operations, assuring all data requests are complete, timely, and accurate.
The primary responsibilities of this position are to provide data to the campus community and third-party providers in a safe and secure manner and to provide ongoing end-user technical support for data block building and report writing.
Data Analyst: Successful execution of departmental requests for reports, labels, data extracts and special requests for data evaluations.
Run electronic test scoring; verify accuracy of the results; scan forms; and interact with faculty or staff to troubleshoot issues.
Work with the director and The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) officer to ensure the proper privacy, security and appropriateness of all data requests.
Perform quality control assessment of all output to assure its accuracy; notify end user departments and/or the appropriate Administrative Computing staff member of errors when necessary.
Transmit electronic data files to and from offsite entities as required, following all data privacy and information security policies set forth by the university and Systems Administration.
Report Writing: Work closely with the Administrative Computing Banner Programming Team to analyze, design, build, test, deliver and maintain reports, dashboards and other requested data extracts.
Develop customized reports from databases to extract and collect data according to client or management needs.
Develop ad hoc reports by converting SQRs going against Banner ODS and Production databases, as appropriate.
Document and maintain a report library for all standard reports made available from Argos.
Implement reliable data extraction processes, schedules for generating standard reports, and methods of efficient distribution.
Assist Banner users with their ad hoc reporting needs.
Work with functional users and team members to ensure the development of integrated solutions are efficiently implemented.
Provide data validation to ensure reports represent data accurately and achieve customer needs.
Work in conjunction with Administrative Computing and departmental report writers to determine additional data points that may be necessary in order to deliver the proper solution.
Experience in computer programming, software development, and operation services
Demonstrated understanding of programming code in more than one programming language
Demonstrated commitment and ability to stay current and learn technology related to the position
Evidence of interpersonal, communications, and writing skills sufficient to provide excellence in service to campus community members at all levels of the organization.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
Experience working in a higher education environment
Ability to write and review/execute SQL statements and PL/SQL program
Functional knowledge of Ellucian Banner and Banner Self-Service
Evidence of knowledge of or experience working with Oracle and computer operation services
Evidence of knowledge of or experience using Argos reporting application
