The Department of Applications and Programming Services (APS) is seeking applicants for the position of Application Programmer / Analyst I or II. The individual in this position will have responsibility for the implementation, maintenance, and support of University administrative and academic systems. This position will be serving the areas of Human Resources, Finance, Financial Aid, and Accounts Receivable. This position will work under the direction of the HR/Fin/FinAid/AR Group Manager. This is a twelve month, full-time position.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are customary for this position, but should not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
Programming support of administrative online and batch applications using a variety of programming languages, report tools, utilities and delivery platforms such as client/server desktop and/or web interfaces
Analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of new or enhanced software applications and services
Provides technical assistance to university end users
Understands application business rules and requirements to the degree necessary to provide implementation, configuration or consulting services to end users
Provides assistance testing upgrades and patches in test and production environments.
Troubleshoots/diagnoses application problems
Maintains technical currency; provides technical recommendations for strategic planning
Knowledge and Skills Considered Essential for Success
Independent and "self-starting"
Experience with technical troubleshooting and diagnostics
Possess good oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in SQL programming
Proficiency in PL/SQL programming
Familiarity with ERP software, specifically Banner and Banner's Human Resources modules.
Experience with reporting tools and enterprise level databases such as Oracle, MS SQL Server
Exposure to and understanding of client/server/network/internet architectures and associated security issues
A four-year college degree
Demonstrable experience using SQL (Programmer Analyst I)
5 years experience using SQL (Programmer Analyst II)
Salary Grade: 109
Salary Range: $48000-$54000 for I $54000-$60000 for II
