This position is in the Department of School of Medicine Custodial. This position is for the Medical School Campus.
Performs higher–level custodial duties. May supervise daily routine of housekeeping personnel and assist supervisor in scheduling or coverage problems.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Canvasses areas of responsibility daily doing spot checks for thoroughness and quality.
Operates vacuum cleaners, strippers, buffers and mop wringers; uses mops, brooms, brushes, soap, cleaning chemicals, floor finish and other material related to building cleaning.
Works with cleaning chemicals and understands safety data sheets for those chemicals.
Moves furniture and heavy objects as required
Reports items which need repair.
Compiles list of supplies needed for supervisor.
High School diploma or equivalent High School certification with some housekeeping experience preferred.
Working knowledge of general housekeeping equipment.
Must have the ability to read and understand labels and operating instructions on equipment and chemical containers.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must have 1 year demonstrated experience or training in the area of carpet and hard surface floor care.
Will operate heavy duty powered equipment to clean and refinish floor throughout the campus.
Will be required to frequently works in a bent over position often on hands and knees in the process of preparing floors for refinishing.
Must have ability to determine proper dilutions of chemicals and other products utilized in this area.�
The hiring range for this position is $13.80 - $15.45 per hour.

Exposure to cleaning agents/chemicals, heavy lifting and prolonged standing/walking kneeling, crouching and bending.
