Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician V for the department of Emerging Pathogens within the New Jersey Medical School.
The Research Technician V conducts computational biology research activities to explore mechanisms underlying signal transduction regulation in immune cells.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Development of mathematical models of whole-cell cell signaling in mammalian immune cells.
Literature curation of datasets for model training and parameterization.
Parameter fitting by numerical optimization.
Model simulations of signaling responses to combinations of signaling agonists and antagonists.
Quantitative analysis of live-cell imaging data.
Works safely in a BSL2 environment, compliant with biosafety protocols.
Assists in laboratory organization, including the ordering and stocking of supplies for laboratory efficiency and cost effectiveness. Submits purchase recommendations, to the Principal Investigator, of equipment and supplies.
Assists the Principal Investigator with the preparation of grant applications and manuscripts.
Assists the Principal Investigator in written and formal presentations to industrial collaborators and funding agencies.
Demonstrates good team spirit and communication skills.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science.
Prior experience in systems biology / computational biology / data science / machine learning / bioinformatics techniques.
Previous experience with microscopy, next-generation sequencing, mass spectrometry experiments.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be a team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
Research experience with mammalian cells.
Programming experience in Python or MATLAB.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Occasional lifting of 20 pounds to a height of 6½ feet.
Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays when necessary to meet deadlines.
Must be willing to work with rodents.
