Montgomery College has an immediate need for a full-time Enrollment & Student Access Specialist in the Student Affairs Division located in the Raptor Central Phone Center (formerly the Response Center). The work schedule is Monday-Thursday 10:30 a.m.-7:00 pm; Friday 8:30 am-5:00 pm. This is a non-bargaining, non-exempt, grade 23 position. For non-exempt positions, you are not eligible to work a secondary job at Montgomery College.
The Enrollment & Student Access Specialist is assigned to Raptor Central and serves as a primary resource for individuals to gain access to College academic programs, services, and other resources. The incumbent will guide students through the various processes, specifically those associated with on-boarding and enrollment, and direct students, college employees and the public to access the college and its services and resources. This position is a phone/email first point of contact to the college, analyze student inquiries, ascertain solutions, and direct students in proper action steps. Job Description
Duties include but are not limited to:
Assist in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Collect, input, organize, and analyze information obtained from multiple sources in order to guide visitors on College-wide services, educational and support programs, and policy and procedure matters such as academic regulations, tuition and fees, and residency requirements.
Assess needs of new and prospective students to determine appropriate goals, requirements, barriers, and next steps for credit and non-credit course enrollment.
Provide assistance and guidance to students throughout the enrollment and financial aid process.
Analyze student inquiries; ascertain solution, and direct students in proper action steps.
Anticipate and define student problems, troubleshoot issues and recommend procedures to improve organizational performance.
Collect, review, and verify incoming documents for completeness and accuracy according to established Federal, State, and College eligibility requirements.
Other duties as assigned
Two years of experience working admissions, enrollment services, records and registration, or other enrollment related office.
The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
Thorough knowledge of student services areas, with emphasis on the enrollment and financial aid application processes, student confidentiality, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), College policies, procedures, programs, and services.
Comprehensive customer service skills and familiarity with conflict management techniques.
Proficient in using a personal computer, integrated software systems, and office applications used at the College (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, the Internet, or other packages, as required by the supervisor).
Proficient in the use of Banner or other student information system.
Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship
Bilingual in one of the most common second languages spoken in the county (Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, French, Amharic), strongly preferred.
Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Two or more years of customer service experience.
Familiarity of college-specific automated database systems.
