UCDH Outpatient pharmacies emphasize patient care in Hospital Discharge, Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Ambulatory Care, Employee Health and Specialty Pharmacy. Our pharmacies are responsible for screening prescriptions for appropriateness and making interventions, preparing medications for dispensing, distribution activities, providing immunizations and providing patient consultations. Staff are responsible for appropriate prescription billing to multiple payers including third party insurances, Medicaid, Medicare D and Medicare B plans. Our pharmacies maintain compliance with multiple accrediting bodies and with State and Federal Laws and Regulations.

Responsibilities The Staff Pharmacist II must adhere to the customer service standards of UCDHS. The Staff Pharmacist II must be able to work occasional overtime, usually during computer failure, unanticipated staff shortage or unusually heavy dispensing periods. TB test and blood serum sample required annually per Joint Commission Standards. Must dress in a professional manner, as outlined by the Departmental dress code and have good personal hygiene. Must be able to competently staff all UCDHS Pharmacies and perform all job tasks in all areas of outpatient pharmacy. Must be able to work weekends, rotating holidays and occasional evenings and nights. Special protective equipment must be used for preparation of hazardous substances and spill cleanup
California Pharmacist License
Recent Outpatient Pharmacy Experience working as a Registered Pharmacist (last 2 years)
Working knowledge of Medi-Cal Formulary and other third- party billing systems.
Experience performing QA and order verification
Patient counseling experience
Customer service experience
Knowledge and understanding of current California Pharmacy Law and other Federal Regulation (e.g. DEA) effecting the practice of pharmacy.
Accurately perform pharmacy calculations.
Ability to interpret and understand physicians' orders, pharmacy, and nursing records.
Current knowledge of pharmacy terminology, generic/brand names, abbreviations and drugs on current hospital formulary.
Read, write and speak English.
Must be able to independently exercise delegated authority to take action, and to recognize when it is appropriate to seek assistance from others, when limits of delegated authority have been reached.
Immunization Certification required for Ambulatory Care Center Pharmacists, UC Davis Clinic Pharmacy in Davis, Staff Pharmacist II Float and Staff Pharmacist II Per Diem positions.
CPR Certification required for Float and Per Diem Staff Pharmacist II positions.
Minimum of 2 years Outpatient Experience
Experience working in a Hospital Outpatient Pharmacy
Ability to supervise technicians and establish priorities of work flow
Computer skills that facilitate medication order entry and other basic clinical software programs.
Immunization Certification preferred for Staff Pharmacist II Career positions.
CPR Certification preferred for Staff Pharmacist II Career positions.
Special Requirements This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
