The Supervisor , Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner, works under the direction of the Departmentâs Administrative and Medical Directors to provide both clinical NP services as well as leadership and managerial services to the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. The Supervisor will facilitate safe and efficient operational flow of the cardiovascular patient population at Keck Medical Center.Â The Supervisor is responsible for the application of the nursing process, supervision of clinical practice, education, leadership, and patient care management.Â This position will function as a part of inter-professional teams by communicating, planning, and implementing care directly with other healthcare professionals, including but not limited to physicians, pharmacists, office support staff, and clinical nurse specialists and nurse practitioners. The Supervisor administrative duties include but are not limited to supervising NPâs, PAâs, RNâs, or MAâs as assigned.Â Depending on location, may be supervising union employees.Â They will be responsible for annual reviews and employee counseling.Â They will report to both the division medical directors, nursing administration, and division director.
Minimum Education:â¢Masterâs degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program.Minimum Experience/Knowledge:â¢A minimum of 5 years-experience as nurse practitioner with at least 2-3 years of lead/ charge or supervisory experience. â¢Demonstrated strong leadership abilities. â¢Demonstrates professional, respectful, effective communication to delegate and direct activities and assignments â¢Strong critical and strategic thinking, analytical and planning skills.â¢Organization/time management skills.â¢Excellent communication skills.Preferred: â¢Previous experience in Cardiology.Required License/Certification:â¢Valid California Registered Nursing license. â¢Valid California Nurse Practitioner license. â¢ACNP, AGACNP, ANP, or AGNP acceptable.â¢BLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.â¢ACLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.â¢NP Board Certification by ANCC or AANP required.â¢Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
