UC Clermont College is seeking to hire a Computer Systems Administrator I. This position will be under the general supervision of the Director of IT and will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, and staff.
Essential Function: This position is the primary Systems Administrator for UC Clermont’s server and storage infrastructure. As such the candidate must be forward thinking and results focused with a proven ability to work independently, tackle issues, seek out new responsibilities, act on opportunities, generate new ideas, and practice self-development.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Install, administer, tune, and maintain physical servers, iSCSI SAN, Hyper-V virtual infrastructure, and related software and hardware. This includes but is not limited to MS Windows operating systems, Linux operating systems, MS SQL, MS Hyper-V, VMWare, and WSUS/SCCM.
Administer MS Active Directory environment including DHCP, DNS, domain controllers, and group policy. Implement and apply security policies to infrastructure and understand the application of common security tools such as patch management, group policies, firewalls, central logging, vulnerability scanners, and IDS.
Ensure the availability, integrity, and reliability of all systems, which may involve after-hours implementation and problem resolution response. This includes development and implementation of backup schemes, master planning, and disaster recovery planning. Perform backup and recovery testing for infrastructure utilizing backup solutions.
Develop, evaluate, and implement plans for fully integrated systems, including operating systems, database systems and applications. This includes working with users to develop needs/specifications, documenting processes, and training users as required.
Review and configure monitoring and analytic solutions for proactively maintaining server/storage infrastructure. Additionally, monitor software and hardware systems for capacity, utilization, and end of life. Plan for upgrades/updates as required. Implement and document changes following infrastructure standards. Automate and standardize using scripting and configuration management software with tools such as PowerShell.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems and procedures.
Other departmental duties include assisting with purchasing, product research, license management, and monitoring support calls. Support UC core systems such as Canvas, WebEx, McAfee, etc…
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or an Associate's degree with two (2) years of relative experience
Requires working knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures; exhibits desired competencies to perform job effectively as an expert resource to others.
Experience implementing and managing enterprise level Hyper-V systems
Experience implementing and managing enterprise storage and server infrastructure
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related degree with four (2) years of relative experience; or an Associate's degree with six (4) years of relative experience.
Experience implementing and managing an MS SCVMM environment
Experience implementing and managing a NetApp iSCSI SAN infrastructure
Proven track record of leadership, self-motivation, and project management
