Job Summary: The Project Administrator is responsible for the operation of a major project(s) or program(s), which could include supervision of personnel, budgeting & accounting, administration of programs & activities, evaluation of personnel & programs and reporting.
Additional Department Summary: Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) is a comprehensive, integrated, public health approach to the delivery of early intervention for individuals who are at risk for developing substance use disorders (SUDs) and referral to more intensive services for those who have an SUD.
Participating organizations would receive funds, training, and technical support for the implementation of SBIRT services, which include:
1) Screening for the presence of substance use and behavioral health disorders with web-based screening tools that are administered by any level of practitioner, i.e., physician assistants, dentists, psychologists, pharmacists, nurses, social workers, counselors, medical students, residents, and physicians.
2) Brief Intervention using a single brief session of Motivational Interviewing, which is used to raise the client’s awareness of substance use or behavior health conditions and increase motivation toward behavior change. The effectiveness of MI in improving substance use and behavioral health outcomes has been demonstrated in multiple research studies.
3) Brief Treatment, including 1-5 sessions of Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavior Therapy. This treatment is intended for clients whose substance use behaviors require more sessions beyond the single brief intervention and is typically implemented by a social workers or other mental health service provider.
4) Referral to Treatment using a proactive process that facilitates access to culturally-competent care for individuals who have been assessed to need more specialized treatment.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of three years of experience; OR Master's degree and a minimum of one year of experience.
Skills and Knowledge: The ability to develop and manage Memoranda of Understanding for clinical partners. Possess organizational skills and supervisory experience. Ties with West Alabama are also expected.
Preferred Qualifications: A Master's Degree and 5 years of experience, including experience in running a substance abuse or mental health center.
