The Knight Cancer Institute is seeking inpatient Advanced Practice Providers in the Center for Hematologic Malignancies (CHM) section of the Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology.
The inpatient APP will be responsible for daily rounds in conjunction with the faculty physician and/or fellow, writing of daily notes and orders, managing consults, coordinating the inpatient workflow of admissions and discharges, and performing appropriate procedures (bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures and ommaya taps). Responsibilities may expand to include outpatient coverage after a period of inpatient coverage (typically one year).
The inpatient/outpatient APPs and nursing teams work collaboratively in a clinical and teaching capacity with opportunities to attend and participate in relevant educational conferences and CHM-specific research protocols.
Scope of range within unit population: Adolescent through geriatric hematologic malignancy patients and bone marrow transplant patients, pre and post transplant, autologous, allogeneic and matched unrelated.
Applicants must have previous experience practicing independently in a clinic setting. New graduates will not be considered.
Training requirement by medication safety committee for signing chemotherapy orders (within one year after hire)
ACLS/BLS certification required
Valid State of Oregon Registered Nurse license
Current Nurse Practitioner license for the state of Oregon
State of Oregon Nurse Practitioner Prescriptive Privileges
Must be an ACNP or have hospital experience in the field of hematology/oncology
Recommended membership in professional nursing organization
Recommended oncology certification required within one year after hire
Valid State of Oregon Physician Assistant license
Current Physician Assistant license for State of Oregon
State of Oregon Licensure under CHH MD
Recommended membership in professional organization
At least two years of experience in oncology, bone marrow transplant, or critical care
