The University of Pittsburgh, Division of General Academic Pediatrics, is seeking a Research Technician. The successful candidate will assist in the planning, conduct and analysis of experiments, maintaining lab records and inventories, ordering of supplies, and will be responsible for general lab organization. The Research Technician will be expected to maintain an accurate and detailed laboratory notebook that is updated in real time. The incumbent will assist in data processing, statistical analysis, and graphic presentation of data.
The individual will be expected to conduct difficult/complex lab testing, develop methods and procedures to be used in research protocols and experiments, aid with grant proposals, reports, and research publications. A Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or other basic science with two years of experience is required. Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement. The position may require some evening hours or weekend hours but those would occur sporadically.
The ideal candidate will be exceptionally organized and detail oriented. The candidate must either have experience with all of the noted laboratory techniques or a willingness to learn new methods. This position is located at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC in Lawrenceville. PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required prior to the start of employment.
