The role of the M Simulation Technician is to assist in the daily operations within the simulation center to ensure optimal efficiency of the coursework being done by both the faculty and the technicians. The Simulation Technician will also be responsible for running high-fidelity manikins, acting as a hybrid patient, or a patient model (standardized patient). This person will have a proven strong background in information technology and subsequent hardware to be able to be the go-to for troubleshooting and administration of IT/AV systems within the infrastructure of the HSEC simulation center. This position will require some nights and weekends and reports to the Department Administrator.
30% Set up, maintain, and clean up courses in conjunction with troubleshooting as requested for smooth facilitation of courses. Clean-up consists of sterilization of towels, linens, gowns, and instruments as well as wipe down of SimMan 3G simulators, restock, and re-organization of rooms to baseline.
40% Acts as “sim jockey” and runs basic and complex simulation scenarios for medical students and residents with SimMan 3G (adult), SimNewB (infant), and Gaumard HAL (pediatric) simulators. Will assist in the creation and programming of simulation scenarios.
30% Role will monitor and coordinate network systems, software, application installation support for UMN HSEC simulation center. They will maintain on-site hardware systems, including A/V, provide on-site support to staff and clients. General Maintenance of IT systems. Works with vendors to resolve technological problems related to simulation equipment.
Salary Range: $18.86 to $32.97 USD/hour

One or more years of any combination of relevant post high school computer technical education, training and/or experience.
Expert with information technology systems, including administration, software, hardware, networks, etc.
2 years working with information technology systems
Basic knowledge with medical terminology and human physiology
Working knowledge of medical simulation
Previous experience using Laerdal products
Demonstrated ability to work independently with little or no direction
