General Description of the Position:
The College and Career Readiness Coordinator, under the direct supervision of the Dean of Adult Education, is responsible for supervising community-based programs and instructors in the RichmondCC service area. The Coordinator will develop, implement, and coordinate curriculum as related to the goals and objectives of the RichmondCC College and Career Readiness programs and share responsibility for the development and implementation of the North Carolina Community College Basic Skills Educational Plan.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Position:
Advise students with information regarding RCC programs, student services, and community resources.
Coordinate and oversee community-based programming. Meet with on and off-campus representatives to design specialized courses including recruiting, interviewing, recommending, training, scheduling, and evaluating of
Serve adults with intellectual disabilities. Review assessments with participants, including level of ability and readiness for work, as well as physical and mental capabilities for development of educational plan. Secure additional supportive services as
Cultivate and maintain relationships with students, agencies and employers, including outreach and connections with local
Assist in planning and implementing the goals and objectives of CCR program following state and federal guidelines.
Prepare documentation for the origination of classes; schedules dates, rooms and instructors, deletions and additions while monitoring and conducting internal audits for designated CCR classes each semester.
Responsible for obtaining substitutes, monthly payroll, instructor observations, class visitations, end-of-semester paperwork, and other required paperwork and submitting it promptly.
Research and implement an evidence-based curriculum and assessment that aligns with the NCCCS Adult Education Content Standards.
Coordinate with marketing staff to prepare marketing materials and literature for distribution to potential students.
May teach courses within the assigned area, ensuring classes align with the NCCCS Adult Education Content Standards and utilize effective adult learning practices.
Responsible for ensuring instructors follow state assessment policies and National Reporting System guidelines.
Handle needs for equipment, supplies, and instructional materials and recommends
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience: Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills. Must actively participate in professional development opportunities and obtain an NCCCS approved adult education certification. Demonstrate a high degree of knowledge in Adult Education pedagogy and best practices in Adult Education. Must have experience working with diverse populations and adult learners. Must have excellent organizational and record-keeping experience and knowledge of FERPA practices. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Master’s degree preferred. Bachelor’s degree required. Two years related work experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully work with the adult learner. Computer experience required with a familiarity with MS Office Suite of products.
