The position is in UCI Department of Finance and Administration, Division of Emergency Management. Under the general supervision of the Director of Emergency Management, the Training and Exercise Coordinator coordinates Emergency Operations Center, Zone Crew, and Campus Search and Rescue Training and exercises to support the emergency management program for UC Irvine. The position is responsible for coordinating training and exercise opportunities for the Emergency Operations Center, Zone Crew Building Evacuation program, Campus Search and Rescue (CSAR) program, and other programs on campus.
Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant fields include, but are not limited to, training and exercise development, emergency response planning, project/program management, business administration, communications, and public administration. Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively participate in individual, small and large group settings, and to be persuasive in difficult situations that may require organization or individual change or compliance with policy and law. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (spreadsheet, word processing, presentations, database) and extensive experience utilizing PowerPoint. Strong ability to multitask, organize and manage assigned projects, conduct research, prepare written reports and make oral presentations. Skill in organizing work and setting priorities in order to complete work in a timely manner and meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail with the ability to troubleshoot and pursue problems to satisfactory resolution. Must be able to interact in a professional manner with faculty, staff, students and regulatory personnel. Must be able to work cooperatively with all Department of Finance and Administration staff in support of departmental goals, policies and procedures. Must have or acquire within 6 months of appointment CERT instructor certification. Must have or acquire within 6 months of appointment Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) certification. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with operational transactions and communications. Must be willing to attend training both locally and out-of-state. Completion of FEMA Independent Study course IS-100.c Introduction to the Incident Command System, IS-200.c Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, IS-700.b Introduction to the National Incident Management System, and IS-800.c National Incident Response Framework, an Introduction.

Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends as necessary and respond in the event of an emergency. Must maintain a valid California driver license and will be enrolled into the Department of Motor Vehicles Employer Pull Notice (EPN) Program Notification system. Must maintain good attendance. Must complete and successfully pass a background check. This position has been identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and as a CSA, persons in this role are required to report crimes, incidents, and disciplinary referral statistics as required by the Jeanne Clergy Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (20 USC 1092(f)). This position is considered a mandatory reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA), Penal Code 11164-11174.3 and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in University of California - Policy CANRA.
