The Rockefeller University seeks a Laboratory Animal Research Specialist to join Comparative Bioscience Center. The Laboratory Animal Research Specialist will help to provide a critical interface between the scientific community, training, and scientific support services. In cooperation with the veterinarians, the Laboratory Animal Research Specialist will assist in the coordination of day-to-day operations related to the Veterinary Technical Staff and Investigator Training and will assume a leadership, management, administrative, and professional role that will require continuous contact with individuals at all levels of the organization on a variety of complex issues. The Laboratory Animal Research Specialist will report to the Associate Director of Veterinary Services and will serve as a liaison of the IACUC collaboratively guiding and advising investigators to ensure that research and teaching activities involving animals are performed in accordance with federal, state, local, and institutional requirements. Responsibilities include scheduled visits to areas and facilities where these activities occur, serving as an adjunct IACUC member, and helping to participate in the semiannual inspection process.
Bachelor's degree required. Three years of recent relevant professional experience in veterinary medicine, animal research, or teaching activities involving animals required. Must possess the ability to read and understand complex scientific documents such as research protocols, regulations, and policies. Must have proficient computer skills, including MS Office applications and database applications. Excellent written, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, including the ability to interact effectively with a diverse constituent population, necessary. Must be detail-oriented, possess superb organizational skills, and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Must possess the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
